PARAWERA TRAIL

Our property is located at Orakau in the Waikato region of New Zealand, an important area for the Maori King movement in the mid 1860's and we are within a gun's roar of the Battle of Orakau.

We are also part of the Parawera Trail, a local tourist trail that includes, an historic 1864 battle site, Maungatautari Ecological Island a reserve of native New Zealand flora and fauna very popular for bush and mountain walking, Out-in-the-Styx Cafe, Castle Rock Climbing Centre for for rock climbing, Threadbare Cottage for crafts and collectibles.  For further information about a fascinating day of activity, email enquiries@lavendergreen.co.nz or ta.info@xtra.co.nz

During the summer we receive numerous visits from touring bus groups who love the sense of freedom they experience while touring our very scenic region.
